A wave of NHS trusts is set to transform care at scale, fueled by Nervecentre’s…
Nottingham’s City Hospital goes live with Nervecentre’s EPMA
Clinicians at Nottingham University Hospitals (NUH) started seeing the benefits of mobile e-Prescribing straight away during the successful Nervecentre EPMA go-live at its City Hospital.
Over the weekend, a collaborative effort that included five doctors, five pharmacists, the NUH Digital team, and Nervcentre worked from the wards to transcribe over 10,000 paper prescriptions for 500 patients into Nervecentre.
EPMA is an integral part of Nervecentre’s EPR, bringing everything together on mobile devices to build a culture of real-time data entry and access at the patient’s bedside. This mobile-first approach provides clinicians with live information about their patients and is proven to save time and improve safety.
Initial observations and feedback posted on Twitter by NUH staff during the go-live weekend included:
“An amazing team effort yesterday… on to day 2. Couldn’t feel prouder of this achievement, such a huge step in our digital journey, thanks to everyone involved” (Nikki Turner, Interim Director of Digital)
“501 patients transcribed to ePharmacy at City Hospital over 2 days. A huge professional achievement that will have a legacy for decades.” (Dr Mark Simmonds, Deputy Medical Director and Consultant in Critical Care Medicine)
“Sadly, I’m old enough to remember when we got blood results on a green screen, who’d have thought we’d now be able to scan a patient’s wristband on your mobile and bring up their meds and results without leaving the bedside!” (Dr Jeremy Lewis, Consultant in Acute Medicine and Chief Clinical Information Officer)
Paul Volkaerts, CEO, Nervecentre Software said,
“Our EPMA solution is part of a fully-integrated EPR platform, giving clinicians real-time visibility of data that can influence complex prescribing decisions; pathology results, vital signs, medical history, drug charts, current medications and contraindications. Integrating EPMA at NUH within the rest of the Nervecentre digital platform has enabled the trust to further strengthen themselves as an exemplar of safer patient flow”.
The EPMA deployment is an important milestone in the long-term digital partnership between NUH and Nervecentre, and the next step is the EPMA go-live at Queen’s Medical Centre, the third largest hospital in the country.
