Congratulations to University Hospitals of Leicester (UHL) and University Hospitals of Northampton (UHN) on being a finalist THREE TIMES in the HTN Now Awards.
The three shortlisted initiatives are:
One Digital and Data Team Year One, a transformative impact
The Digital and Data Team at UHL & UHN, in its first year of existence, has successfully delivered a significant set of transformations – including the first phase of Northampton’s EPR. Patient care has improved through innovative digital solutions, exemplified by seamless, paper-free experiences and self-check-in at scale, supporting 30,000 staff and 3,400 acute beds.
Unit dose medicines administration at scale
A new approach to automated medication dispensing has been implemented in 10 wards, with 40 more to follow. The digital platform, developed through a long-term partnership with Nervecentre and Deenova, reduces medication errors, frees clinical time, cuts medicine costs and waste via closed-loop prescribing and barcoded administration.
Codesign and coproduction of a new EPR-integrated PAS
University Hospitals of Leicester and Nervecentre software delivered an EPR-integrated Patient Administration System (PAS), replacing legacy technology with a modern spine-enabled platform. The project safely migrated 50 million records, and restored national reporting within 48 hours.
From building a single Digital and Data team across Northampton and Leicester’s hospitals, to safer medicines through unit-dose automation, and being the first to deploy our PAS, these programmes show what strong clinical and digital collaboration can achieve.
We’re proud to have supported this work, helping simplify workflows and improve safety, while delivering transformative change at scale.
Best of luck when the HTN Now Awards are announced!
